Sri Vaikunta Perumal Temple is situated in Kanchipuram near the bustand.

The temple is not having (gopuram ) entrance tower. West facing entrance before the entry south west there’s a temple tank.

The temple is 1600 years old as per the priest.The temple construction is similar to the Kanchi Kailasanthar temple

When we enter the temple it’s having the flagpole & the bali peedam further on entering there’s a small Mandapam connected to the main temple entrance

Temple construction of the sanctum sanctum (garbha griha) is of square shape & moat type. Outside the sanctum there’s is a pillared hallway (praharam)

all the pillars are sculpted with lions the Pallava symbol and the walls are all sculpted with lot of idols & stories it’s difficult to understand the intent & identity of the sculptures.

Sanctum Sanctum

There 3 main deities inside the sanctum sanctum 1. Vaikunta Perumal in sitting posture almost 6 feet tall facing west in main sanctum 2. Aranganathar in reclining posture is backside of main sanctum 3. Standing posture in first floor of the sanctum sanctum. which is not opened for devotees due to accessibility

The Aranganathar Sannathi will be open only during Ekadashi days Morning 8:00 am to 12:00 noon only

While coming out of Prahara we can see lot of sculptures I was able to capture few which got quick attention

Thayar Sannathi is outside the main prahara of the temple in southern side east facing is Vaikuntavalli & Northern side east facing is Andal

Since it was last day of margazhi Utsavam we couldn’t able to see Andal.

As per the priest lord Vishnu gave blessings to Pallava king Paramesvara here & The king built this temple to commemorate this event to him. This temple may be one of the earliest Pallava architecture which is similar to Mahabalipuram

Divya Desams

This is one of the 108 Divya Desams where Thirumangai Alwar has sung the hymns of Nalayira Divya Prabandham

The temple is under the control of ASI they follow strict timings 8 am to 12 Noon & 4 pm to 8:30 pm.

I missed to see Aranganathar need to go on a Ekadashi day. Apt time to visit the temple on Ekadashi day in morning .
